Transportation is one of the basic necessities of a human. Increasing potholes in the roads in and around Cholanayakanhalli and V Nagenahalli have turned transportation hazardous.
The Brihad Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP – the city government) is supposed to take care of the roads. Due to corrupt contractors in the local government, the potholes are neglected. Potholes trouble the pedestrians and the commuters, causing uneasiness, unhygienic conditions, and slower traffic.
We have researched about how these potholes affect people in their daily lives. To find this out we interviewed 10 pedestrians, 10 auto drivers and 10 street vendors (N = 30). We have got some surprising results about how these affect them directly and indirectly.
We wrote an RTI request regarding the work done in Cholanayakanahalli. We also filled a few potholes in our locality and made our friends contribute in filling the potholes. We also took images of potholes and uploaded them on the BBMP app for potholes.
