Here are two examples of nōttusvaram songs. This was a collection of 33 songs that Dīkshitar composed, based on the patterns of songs he listened to the British bands play when he was in Manali, near Madras (now Chennai).
In these two recordings, the songs are sung mainly by children.
You will notice how simple and easy these two songs are compared to the other two examples provided.
The scale (i.e., the notes) are of the rāga Śankarābharanam.
The first song is in praise of Rāma.
The second song is in praise of Śiva. The song refers to ékāmréśvara, the name of the form of Śiva in Kānchīpuram, Tamil Nadu. The name kānchīnagarapaté (काञ्चीनगरपते Lord of the city of Kānchī). Both of these refer to a particular place. This is one of many examples of Dīkshitar’s songs in which we can find geographical references.
