Weather plays an important role in our life especially in the lives of farmers. Nowadays, weather conditions are changing a lot due to many human activities. It is not stable. Due to this, farmers are suffering a lot. They are not getting good results for their hard work because of unpredictable changes in the weather. Further since the weather is also closely related to the geography of a location, our research aim to understand the impact of the location and weather related changes in the decisions made by farmers in cultivation.
We choose Muthanallur for our research as there are many farmers living in this area. Due to a lack of rainfall, farmers are facing many difficulties to grow the crops like paddy and ragi. Ragi does not need more water supplies but it needs water at least once in 8-10 days. Paddy needs more water compared to other crops. The nature of crops is also a factor which decides the method of farming. Some of the sources of water and methods employed by farmers for irrigation are by drip irrigation, sprinkler or bore well. We plan to do detailed interviews of farmers and analysis of data for finding out the changes in weather as a part of the research.
