Urbanization – an optimistic thought

Our research was about urbanization in south Bangalore, the positive and negative impacts of that and how can we make the developments in a positive way. Places covered: Hennagra, Bommasandra, Narayana Health City, Biocon (Hebbagodi), and Electronic City.
We addressed the following points: how the place was before , now the developments which happened in the area, negative and positive impacts of that, measures and initiatives taken for further conservation.
We interviewed local people (one in each of the first two places) to get an idea of how things have changed in each of the localities. In the third locality, we could not get anyone to respond to our queries.
The third location was an encroached lake near Electronics City. A part of the lake has become a waste dumping area. But the local inhabitants were not ready to give the details . We were only able to get photos of that area. We did a short session from an IT professional in Electronic city who shared his optimistic thought on the development of the silicon city.
We covered some initiatives taken by our ACTS institutions in conserving lakes – lake marathon- through interviews. From here we approached the secondary research of town planning in the whole city of Bangalore, how the developments have affected the climate and environment in the city etc.
