India being a large country with a range of climates across the nation and hosts very diverse population. People differ from each other in various characteristics and among which skin color happens to be one. With these differences come discrimination.

We have observed that people who get discriminated on the basis of color face various issues such as depression, anxiety, lack of self confidence, etc., especially because Indian society tends to favor fair skin.

Some people also choose to go for skin-lightening treatments as well as extensive use of cosmetics. In extreme cases, it could even be detrimental to their health. These and other factors limit the geographies available to the person.

Our study deals with understanding the views of people about skin color, the impact of color discrimination on  people, and the existence of different sources which promotes color discrimination. We plan to do our study mainly though interviews and secondary data analysis.
