This example is connected to the deity called soundara.rāja (the Lord of Beauty or the Beautiful Lord). This is a form of standing Vishnu. In some temples, such as Śrīrangam, Vishnu is depicted as reclining — a form called śāyī, lying down.
This temple is located in the town of Nāgapattanam, Tamil Nadu, India. (see map below). It is labeled by its formal Tamizh (Tamil) name: Thirunagai Divya Desam 21. There is a lot of interesting lore and history to that name, but we will not go into that here.
