Climate Changes, Society Adapts.

Climate changes, society adapts.

Thomas Schmidlin
Department of Geography, Kent State University, Kent, OH, USA.

The environment that we inhabit on Earth is dynamic. Changes that we are experiencing now and those that we anticipate in the future will alter how we live and function. This discussion will take a long view of past changes in the environment that our ancestors survived. From time scales that reach back to the last ice age and conclude with the recent year in India, we can try to understand the interconnected atmosphere. Inspection of the past gives a context from which we might develop strategies that help us to adapt to changes that societies are facing now and those that we might encounter in the future.
